 No.10372

https://www.psychologytoday.com/au/blog/pristine-inner-experience/201110/not-everyone-conducts-inner-speech

>Chris Heavey and I gave random beepers to a stratified random sample of 30 students from a large urban university and interviewed them about the characteristics of their randomly selected pristine experiences. Five main characteristics emerged, each occurring in about a quarter of all samples (many samples had more than one characteristic). Three of those five characteristics may not surprise you: inner speech occurred in about a quarter of all samples; inner seeing occurred in about a quarter of all samples; and feelings occurred in about a quarter of all samples. The other two phenomena occurred just as frequently but are not so well known.

>Consider inner speech. Subject experienced themselves as innerly talking to themselves in 26% of all samples, but there were large individual differences: some subjects never experienced inner speech; other subjects experienced inner speech in as many as 75% of their samples. The median percentage across subjects was 20%.

>inner speech occurred in about a quarter of all samples

This means that the average person only thinks in speech about 25% of the time.

One day, we're gonna know for sure who is and who isn't an NPC, how they're created, where they come from, if they can be stopped being made, and it's gonna be bloody.

Such a macabre thought tbh, I have a hard time believing it's true.

>large urban university

keep in mind urban is a yuppie code word for black, but that's kind of beside the point; I think it's more likely the experiment wasn't showing what they think it was than its results being an iron clad fact. I'm struggling to imagine how a human being could function as such

>IQ is just a number. It doesn’t measure anything. You are a pseudo-intellectual. You are an IQ reductionism. You are an autist.

That level six one is pretty hard when you've forgotten what rudimentary math experience your goblin highschool taught you. 4km in 9 minutes is 1km every 2.25 minutes and 3km in 6 minutes is 1km every 2 minutes which throws off the the other number and admittedly I don't remember how to extrapolate that heh. Apparently only the top 5% of people can, too. That's honestly pretty scary lmoa

I…is it 28km/hr? h-..heh

it's quite simple, but the way they worded it was cheeky.

She travels 4km in 9min and then 3km in 6min. that means she traveled 7km in 15min. 60min would be 28km, thus 28km/h.

If this inner voice shit is real then how can people even read? I know a lot of people are shit at it but doesn't the fact they're able to do it to begin with imply an inner voice of some sort? I can't imagine just taking in words "visually" without ostensibly sounding them out in my head tbh
