Anyone ever brew their own alcohol?

I've always been interested by this hobby plus it could prove valuable if SHTF and I am made a second class citizen and kicked out of society due to my refusing experimental gene therapy injections.

So what are the absolutely necessary pieces of equipment you need?
Also what's the easiest type of alcohol to brew?

I've done this before. It's fun.

>the absolutely necessary pieces of equipment you need?

Yeast, some sort of jug (preferably glass). Sugar or fruit.

>the easiest type of alcohol to brew?

Wine or mead is the easiest. It has two ingredients. Takes longer than beer though, you will have to wait months.

awesome. don't mind if it takes months, I really enjoy both wine and mead
Could you give me a qrd on what the process looks like? or point me in the direction of a easy youtube tutorial or something that you trust?

i have done it
get a hydrometer to measure your specific gravity to see how much sugars have been fermented
just buy one of those beer kits to start with

any grape wine will probably taste like shit tbh, they use specific grapes with certain acid/sugar profiles then macerate the skins for tannins and age in oak to complete a certain flavour profile.

chucking some bread yeast into a pitcher of welchs aint gonna make wine, but you could still drink it

on a basic level it's not complicated, but making something that actually tastes good (if you care about that) can be more difficult

here's the recipe i followed when i was a kid. get a 2 to 3 liter bottle, cut up 5 apples or as many as you can fit inside the bottle. don't wash the apples the yeast on the skins helps the fermentation process. then put 20 teaspoons of sugar inside the bottle, now fill the remaining space with water and screw the cap on. leave it in a dark place for several months. i left it for 10 months and it was lovely when i drank it.

Apple cider is the easiest, you can be drinking it within 6-8 weeks after brewing it.
